An ice driving experience is more than a day behind the wheel—it’s a complete winter getaway.

Nestled in the heart of Wisconsin’s Northwoods, Eagle River is famous for its endless snow-covered forests, frozen lakes, and outdoor adventures. Known as the Snowmobile Capital of the World, it’s also home to Ice Driving USA, where guests travel from across North America to experience professional ice driving on the frozen surface of Dollar Lake.

Whether you’re travelling alone, with friends, or organizing a corporate retreat, planning your trip is simple and the experience is unlike anything else in the United States.

Stay Right on the Lake

Your base for the adventure is the historic Chanticleer Inn, located directly on the shores of Dollar Lake.

Instead of driving to the venue every morning, you simply walk outside and watch the instructors preparing the ice circuits while enjoying breakfast overlooking the frozen lake.

After a full day on the ice, relax with fellow participants before enjoying a Scandinavian-inspired dinner prepared by our Swedish chef.

It’s the perfect combination of motorsport, hospitality, and the peaceful beauty of a Wisconsin winter.

Choose the Experience That Fits You

Every guest has different goals, which is why Ice Driving USA offers three carefully designed experiences.

One-Day Experience

Perfect for first-time guests, the One-Day Experience offers a full day of professional instruction, plenty of seat time, a Scandinavian-style lunch, and refreshments. It’s the ideal introduction to vehicle control on ice and an unforgettable winter adventure.

Two-Day Experience

The Two-Day Experience provides significantly more driving time and personalized coaching, allowing participants to refine their technique, gain confidence, and experience more advanced exercises on our professionally prepared ice circuits.

Three-Day Advanced Experience

For drivers looking to maximize both their time on the ice and their skill development, the Three-Day Advanced Experience is our most comprehensive program.

Designed for returning guests, experienced drivers, and enthusiasts, this premium experience features three full days of driving, advanced coaching, technical circuit layouts, and individualized instruction. The additional seat time allows drivers to fine-tune advanced techniques, improve consistency, and gain a deeper understanding of vehicle dynamics in low-grip conditions.

Combined with exceptional hospitality, gourmet Scandinavian-inspired dinners, and the spectacular winter setting of Eagle River, the Three-Day Advanced Experience is one of the most exclusive ice driving programs available anywhere in North America.

Getting to Eagle River

Travelling to Ice Driving USA is easier than many guests expect.

The closest airport is Rhinelander–Oneida County Airport, approximately 30 minutes from the venue. Guests can also fly into Central Wisconsin Airport (Wausau), around 1 hour and 40 minutes away.

Many participants extend their stay to explore northern Wisconsin, enjoy snowmobiling, skiing, ice fishing, or simply relax and experience the beauty of the Northwoods in winter.

Professional Instruction from Start to Finish

Every guest receives guidance from experienced instructors throughout the program.

Rather than simply driving laps, you’ll work through a carefully planned progression designed to build confidence naturally. Each session introduces new challenges while reinforcing techniques learned earlier in the day.

The combination of modern Subaru vehicles, premium Swedish studded tires, and the open surface of Dollar Lake creates an ideal environment for learning advanced vehicle control safely and confidently.

A Winter Experience You’ll Never Forget

There are many places to drive fast.

Very few places allow you to drift across a frozen lake, surrounded by snow-covered forests, while learning from professional instructors in one of North America’s most unique winter destinations.

Whether you’re celebrating a special occasion, planning a bucket-list adventure, organizing a corporate retreat, or simply looking for the ultimate winter driving experience, Ice Driving USA offers something that simply can’t be replicated anywhere else.

Our February programs are intentionally limited to ensure maximum driving time and personalized coaching. If you’re planning a winter trip to Wisconsin, we recommend reserving your place early and experiencing the thrill of driving on natural lake ice at Ice Driving USA.
